Alaska via Seattle

I have so much to share from our Alaskan cruise, I don't even know where to start. We spent a day in Seattle before the ship left, so it almost felt like an additional vacation on top of seeing Alaska.

Space Needle

When we flew into Seattle the weather was gorgeous, so we visited the Space Needle before taking in a Mariners game that night. Probably one of the best things we ate on the whole trip were the garlic fries they serve at SafeCo Field. They are french fries covered in minced garlic and served with a few wedges of Washington apple, and the whole thing was just about perfect in terms of baseball stadium food.

The next morning, we went to Pike Place Market. They were having some kind of flower festival, so there were extra stands everywhere selling gorgeous bouquets of flowers. Former-barrista Adam was also able to visit the first Starbucks, and then we headed for the Pier to board the ship.

The cruise was a lot of fun. Neither Adam nor I had ever been on a cruise before, so we didn't really know what to expect. Mostly, we just relaxed (I read three books!) and ate delicious food, although I'm happy to say I did manage to use the fitness center. We went to a few shows and some other activities, but mostly we wandered around, watched movies, or played cards. We celebrated Adam's birthday by splurging on a meal at the ship's fancy restaurant. They brought out a little cake for us to share, and everything was delicious.

Another one of our favorite things about the cruise was that they'd leave a little towel animal on our bed every evening before bedtime. So cute! The elephant was our favorite.

I'll stop before this post gets too long, but you can check out all of my photos here. Hopefully I'll find some time soon to share our photos from Alaska itself!
