Is this a good idea?

Adam and I are thinking of going on an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon. I say "thinking of" because we don't have enough vacation time to go on a very extravagant honeymoon right after the wedding, so we're planning on taking a big vacation sometime in 2013 and calling it a belated honeymoon. So basically, we have plenty of time to change our minds, but the plan for now is Alaskan cruise.However. A few situations have transpired recently that make me think I should scrap this plan as fast as possible:

1. A few weeks ago, someone I follow on Twitter posted this piece about how many people disappear from cruise ships annually and how cruise lines try VERY hard to keep it covered up.

2. Last week I read Tina Fey's memoir Bossypants, in which she details how the engine room caught fire during her honeymoon cruise, which resulted in an early docking of the boat and everyone on it being flown back to the U.S. from some Caribbean island. (But not before everyone was ushered to the ship's decks in case they needed to be loaded onto lifeboats.)

3. Then the VERY NEXT DAY, that Italian cruise ship wrecked.

4. Today, I listened to the Doug Loves Movies podcast, and two of his guests detailed their worst cruise experiences.

Is this all happenstance? Or is the universe telling me not to set foot on a cruise ship? Please let me know if you think I am being crazy, preferably sometime in the next year or so before I commit to a potentially terrible vacation.

I'd like to cast a vote in favor of the cruise; however, I am not known for being practical.
Don't get wasted alone and you won't get kidnapped. I'll show you my Alaskan cruise pictures this weekend and you'll be sold!
