several things about purchasing stuff on the internet, including:
-why you would pre-order an album on iTunes. Why pre-order something that CAN'T RUN OUT?
-why you would pay $17.00 for a book at Barnes and Noble when you could buy it for $13.00 at Amazon.
-speaking of iTunes, is there anything more entertaining than celebrity playlists? I don't think so. (Michael C. Hall? You are my favorite.)
-whether or not I should point out, once again, that shopping is without a doubt the best thing you can do with the internet. Shh. No arguments. I am right.

Getting better

Where I've been
Last week I worked like a fiend so I could take Thursday and Friday off to go to Chicago. We ate wonderful food, went here for a little German Christmas spirit, here here and here for a little shopping, and I got my hair cut at Macy's (does anything make you feel better than a shampoo and haircut? Absolutely not). Then I got a cold, and then it took about 2 1/2 hours longer than it should have to get home thanks to a snowstorm. Both of which were not so bad, but I thought I'd mention them anyway.
So that's what I've been up to. That and wishing I lived in Chicago.

Never fails
Every single year, I start wrapping my gifts with the best intentions, and by the end of the wrapping session I've remembered something I seem to forget at the end of every Christmas: I am the WORST gift-wrapper in the entire world.

Pet sounds
At some point during just about every single day, I think I hear the dog's collar tags jingling down the hall outside my bedroom, even though I know she's absolutely somewhere else in the house. It makes me worry that for the rest of my life, I'll be hearing little phantom dog sounds.
Sometimes, I worry myself.

Festive, but impractical.
A few years ago my mom got me these 3D cookie cutters for Christmas. I found them around Halloween and vowed that I would make them this year.
We happened to have brightly-colored sugar cookie dough in the fridge (courtesy of some school fundraiser) and I decided that these cookies might be really fun a day or two before Christmas or they might be a big disaster at a time of year when we need cookies RIGHT NOW. So, I decided to practice.
I didn't eat any of them, but I guess they look okay. Unfortunately, the angels' heads kept falling off, so none of them were available for the photo shoot.

Sweet dreams
Last night I dreamed that I ran into an ex-boyfriend. He was completely drunk and while we were talking his cell phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket and although it was in working condition, it was broken into three pieces. Of course, between his intoxication and the battered phone, the person on the other end of the line--his new girlfriend--couldn't understand a word he was saying.
When I woke up, I laughed out loud. I don't often see symbolism in my dreams, but this? The communication-challenged male? It's probably the least complex thing my subconscious has ever cooked up, but congratulations! Because the rest of my brain actually understood it. And thought it was awesome.
